Consultation to reduce PAN
3rd December 2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
Schools Admission Consultation
The Headteacher and the Governing Body are consulting on a potential change to our Published Admission Number (PAN) as we plan to continue providing the best possible education for all pupils
Proposed Change
At present, our school admits 75 pupils per year group (a two and half form entry. However, after careful consideration of projected pupil numbers, local demographic trends and our commitment to maintaining high-quality education, we are proposing that from September 2027 we reduce this to 60 pupils per year group (a two-form entry).
Reason for the Proposal
This change is being considered to:
· Respond to local demand and pupil forecasts which indicate a lower number of children requiring places in future years.
· Maintaining financial sustainability and efficient use of resources
· Ensuring optimal class sizes to maintain the quality of education and support that we can offer every child.
Impact on Current Pupils
We want to reassure you that this proposal will not affect any children currently on roll at the school. The change would only apply to new Reception admissions from September 2027 onwards.
Consultation Period
As required by the School Admissions Code, we are now entering a formal consultation period. This consultation will run from 3rd December 2025 to 30th January 2026 (a period of at least 6 weeks, not including the school Christmas holidays). During this time, we invite parents, carers, and members of the local community to share their views.
How to respond
You can respond in the following ways:
· By email to: head@baguleyhall.manchester.sch.uk
· In writing to: Stephen Murphy, Headteacher at the address above.
Next Steps
Following the consultation, the Governing Body will review all feedback before making a final decision, which must be determined and published by 28 February 2026 in line with the statutory Admissions Code.
We are keen to hear your views on this proposal and encourage you to take part in this consultation.
Yours faithfully
Stephen Murphy, Headteacher
Paul Marshall, Chair of Governors
