Keeping Children Safe at Baguley Hall Primary School

"Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is everyone’s responsibility."

At Baguley Hall, we are committed to creating a safe learning environment where all children and adults feel secure and valued, knowing they will be listened to and taken seriously. As a Rights Respecting School, we empower our pupils to know their rights, specifically the right to be protected from harm (Article 19) and the right to special help if they have been abused (Article 39).

Key School Procedures & Partnerships

How We Handle Concerns

When a concern is raised, our CAFT team follows a clear procedure:

  1. Record & Discuss: All concerns are recorded on CPOMS and discussed by the CAFT.

  2. Action: We determine if the child needs Early Help (working with the South Early Help Hub) or if the risk is high enough to require a referral to the Children's Services Front Door.

  3. Feedback: We ensure the person who raised the concern receives feedback on the course of action.

Operation Encompass

We receive Operation Encompass notifications. This is a partnership between police and schools where we are notified by the next school day if a child has been exposed to a domestic abuse incident, allowing us to provide immediate support.

The Prevent Duty

We have a statutory duty to prevent children from being drawn into radicalisation. We promote Fundamental British Values - including tolerance, respect, and empathy - to help children resolve conflict without violence and challenge extremist views.

Managing Allegations Against Adults

If there is an allegation that an adult in school has harmed a child, the Headteacher (or Chair of Governors) will immediately contact the Manchester Designated Officer (LADO) at 0161 234 1214.

Digital Safeguarding

We understand that digital safety is a vital safeguarding issue.

  • Filtering & Monitoring: We comply with national standards to ensure pupils are safe from inappropriate online material.

  • Mobile Phones: We do not allow the use of personal mobile phones in school (with rare medical exceptions for glucose monitoring).

  • Reporting: Children are encouraged to report any online concerns to a trusted adult or via the CEOP button.
